The Spanish Royals kept up their family tradition of spending the Easter holiday on the Balearic island of Mallorca.
Picture
On Sunday, King Felipe, Queen Letizia and their daughters Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia were joined by Felipe's parent's King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia for Easter Mass at the Palma de Mallorca Cathedral.

The Spanish queen took inspiration from her island surroundings and choose a nautical-inspired ensemble in a classic colour combination of navy and white.

Letizia debuted a pair of Hugo Boss High-Waist Wide-Leg Pants.

The navy culottes feature a high banded waist and silvertone side button detail, and originally retailed for US$345 but have now been reduced to $259 at Saks Fifth Avenue.

Letizia complemented the sailor pants with her Carolina Herrera polka dot silk blouse which she first wore for a visit to the post city of Málaga in February.

She coordinated the look with her navy Nina Ricci pointed toe suede pumps, and added a pop of colour with her pink Uterque quilted handbag.

Letizia finished the outfit with her TOUS blue stone and baroque pearl dangle earrings.

The service is a private family affair and is not attended in an official capacity as Head of State.

Felipe & Letizia's first attendance as a couple was in 2004, when they were engaged to be married. Since then they have attended annually expect for 2007 due to the impending birth of Infanta Sofía.

Here's a look back at the past Easter Sunday services attended my the Spanish royal family. It's interesting to see how their family has evolved ...

I love the blouse especially the gathering on the cuffs. Polka dots are my favorite because they are classic and always stand out. I think the pants are great with the buttons down the side. But, I'm not sure they are appropriate for an Easter mass. A skirt or dress would have been more formal. But looking back Letizia always wore pants to church on Easter but it just makes it seem like more of a casual affair.

I like this outfit, with one little nitpick. I think these pants are not a good length for anyone. They either needed to be shortened a bit or lengthened a bit. They hit at an odd spot and I've seen Letizia wear others that hit that spot too. It's always jarring visually.

You're right, Stacey. The pant length is odd. A bit longer would look better. But I think the designer was trying to create something more modern and different.

I always have big expectations about Letizia's look in Easter mass but, because of my own expectations, I always get a bit dissapointed every year. For me the ideal look should be a mix of the seriouness of the first years with the good fashion sense of the Queen nowadays. Nevertheless Letizia looks good, modern, chic. A word for Queen Sofia that is always in her role in such a good way. So inspiring. The girls are so beautiful and sweet.

I love this clean and stylish look on Queen Letizia. The pants' length is unusual but the silver buttons gives an insouciant sailor vibe. Blouse, shoes and earrings - perfect. However, while the pink shoulder bag is fine, one of her lovely red bags might have been a stronger counterpoint to the navy and blue. The look back to previous Easter Sunday services is fascinating - thank you, Elizabeth. King Filipe flipped back and forth over having a beard for a few years there!

Oops - I meant navy and white! It was also interesting to see in the look back photos that Queen Letizia seemed to be finding her current style in 2015 when she ditched the clunkier shoes she'd been wearing up until then in favour of stilettos.

That's a lovely snappy outfit for Letizia although she sometimes puzzles me with her choices for a church service. I get the reference to sailing and all that but culottes seem a bit informal for a Mass service. I have to confess I'm not a big fan of culottes, I think they're hard to carry off though I think Letizia manages these ones well. I love the polka dot blouse, a real stand-out number. And the pink quilted bag is a perfect contrast and way ahead of the usual splash of red that is so often used for the purpose.

The Roman Catholic Church of Spain ask for austerity at mass, it's a moment for praying not for clothes. Someone can even wear jeans. Probably you have the Anglican tradition in mind. You can see how the Infantas Elena and Cristina used to dress also.
