This is a splendid gown that was well worth a repeat wearing. The design is very alluring with one arm draped while the other is bare. The cape is very distinctive for an evening gown. I'm impressed with Stella McCartney. The gold accessories look great against the bright red/orange colour.

In the final, close up photo, the dress is puckered and looks too tight. If the cape covered both shoulders it would look more balanced. As it is here, the look is unfinished. While gold shoes and purse go well with the red, the earrings and bracelet give off a sliver vibe, therefore silver shoes and purse would coordinate better, or gold jewellery would go better with gold accessories. The bold red colour does look spectacular on Letizia.

Hi Laura, you may prefer the cut of Crown Princess Mary's Valentino cape gown, which was worn for the enthronement ceremony of Emperor Naruhito. I'm not sure which cut I prefer... I can see the merits of both.

It's interesting that the silver jewellery is mixed with the gold accessories. I was thinking that the warmth of the rubies helped tie them in. And I prefer the unbalance of quiet symmetry in the dress design as covering both shoulders would be too tame for me. I do agree though with Jennifer that Mary's cape gown at the emperor's enthronement was another masterly rendition of the theme. I definitely agree that Letizia can handle this fiery red!

Much prefer this styling with the Stella McCartney. Last time too much red on red going on. Absolutely gorgeous

This is a superb red gown. The Queen looks so elegant and all class. I love the cape effect this is a interesting feature. The fit is perfect, she wears this color red beautifully. Love her shoes and evening bag. Her ruby and diamond earrings are gorgeous as is her bracelet. Her makeup looks natural, I love the fact she kept her lipstick neutral, harir looked lovely up. Stunning presentation.

Wow! So great to see this dress again! Letizia looks every inch a queen! The asymmetrical look isn't my favorite, but I can't help still applauding this look. She wears it well! The only thing that would help is a tiara!

I'm somewhat surprised to see the Queen wearing British brands - Stella McCartney and Jimmy Choo on a German State Visit. I do recognise that the red and gold colours are in the national flags of both Germany and Spain. I had hoped that during the Visit, Letizia would wear the contemporary brand Jil Sander, whose aesthetic is very much within Her wheelhouse (beautiful, grown-up garments with artisan details). I appreciate that it has become increasingly complicated to know who owns, or has some ownership in which brand (If my memory serves me correctly, Jil Sander was originally a German fashion house and is now owned by the OTB Group. Stella McCartney has a partnership with LVMH and Jimmy Choo is owned by Capri Holdings etc). Apologies, I digress, this is a fabulous look from Letizia! I prefer the styling of the gown here with the gorgeous coiffed updo, as opposed to its 2017 debut with Hollywood waves. The updo reveals the clean lines of the asymmetric bodice and dazzling drop earrings to full effect. McCartney's gown is bold, with refined restraint. The minimalist design is dramatised in exuberant red, along with the deft hang of the elegant cape. My only quibble is that I would exchange the dainty diamond & ruby bracelet for Her stunning Cartier diamond cuff worn on 26/10/17.

Perhaps that flower and circle bracelet is a little on the quiet side against the splendour of the rest of the outfit, but on balance I prefer the ruby theme to be maintained as the all-silver cuff might be out of place.

This is such sensational gown and worthy of many repeats. It's helped no end by Letizia's fabulous figure. It has such a nonchalant touch in the asymmetry of one shoulder exposed and the other topped by the cape, cool chic from Stella McCartney.

The gold accessories are perfect, the slim Magrit clutch, and the wonderful 40s style platform sandals crafted by Jimmy Choo. The jewellery is divine, and makes a full statement for the occasion of a state dinner. The chandelier earrings are wonderful, being wide in a fan shape, but delicate in execution with just the bottom edge trimmed in rubies. Letizia's updo perfectly showcases them. The ruby flower and diamond circles in the bracelet are exquisite, and the whole benefits from being relatively slim. An outstanding look from Letizia.
