The King and Queen of Spain paid a visit to the town of Bailén today to commemorate the 210th anniversary of the Battle of Bailén.
It was the site of the first ever open field defeat of the Napoleonic army in 1808 by the Spanish Army of Andalusia during the Peninsular War.
Their Majesties received a warm welcome from the locals.

"Lunares" en Andalucía, very appropriate. Jaén, it's even hotter than Madrid, a furnace..

Love this dress. It is flirty and fun. Not liking the pursue…hate the blatant display of logos and initials on clothes and accessories. I suppose they are a status symbol to some people, but it is like you are advertising for the company. Think a red purse and red shoes would have been wow with this dress.

Oops, make that, Not liking the PURSE.

I agree with Laura; that purse is clunky and uninspired. Also, I'm not a fan of that shoe style with the big vinyl piece across the instep; Letizia has more than one of this style, I think. But the dress is fabulous—in silk chiffon, with lovely lines and a skirt that moves beautifully. Perfect for summer.

I don't think I quite warmed to this dress first time round but this time it looks wonderfully summery and fresh. I love laid-back prints like that, I find they're the kind I can wear again and again. I love the styling on the pleated bodice and the pretty bow, and the neckline is cleverly worked too. It looks as if it might have benefited from a little more lining to the skirt to prevent too much see-through.

Does anyone else think the dress Letizia is slightly different to the one in the picture? The CH dress shown has a higher, fitted waist and a bodice panel with gathers below the bust while Letizia's seems to have a flatter front which gathers at the waist. I prefer the version Letizia is wearing. Also, Letizia's dress seems to have a plain white neck facing while the CH one is in the black on white spotted fabric. Is it a custom made dress as it doesn't seem to be the same as the one pictured?

Yes I think you're right Mary! It does appear to be a customized version of the ready-to-wear dress. Thanks for pointing it out x

Hi Elizabeth, this post is not showing up in the 2018 chronicle of Letizia's outfits, just on the main page. I'm using Chrome for Android.
