The main objective of World Rare Diseases Day is to raise awareness amongst the general public and decision-makers about rare diseases and their impact on patients' lives. This year it is celebrated within the framework of the campaign 'Symptoms of hope' powered by the Spanish Federation for Rare Diseases (FEDER), which seeks to position the impact of COVID-19 on the community as well as the lessons learned in the last year.
During the event Her Majesty addressed the auditorium 'In the last twelve months, each and every one of you has been, even more, an example and a reference of dignity, courage and strength', referring to the struggle before and during the pandemic. Queen Letizia also delivered this year's awards which recognised initiatives that have committed to research, fought for social transformation or have come together to guarantee the care of families during the health crisis.

The leather skirt is a classic and the two tone shoes are striking. The blouse looks 'messy' but I do appreciate the unique design of the zipper closure at the back and wraparound buttoned waist.

I am not keen on this look for Letizia. I find leather, especially black leather, to be rather severe and harsh looking, although I do realize that is a personal dislike. I'm also not caring for the blouse, as the stiffness, the belt and huge button give vibes of a uniform. I certainly wouldn't want a purse with the initials FV...unless my initials were actually FV. No matter how much status it means to have designer clothes or accessories, I would not be willing to advertise a brand. I do like the shoes. They are a wonderful way to combine black and white and since Letizia frequently wears that colour combo, she will be able to wear them often.

You are looking at one here who wrecked a Herrera tee trying to get the wretched solid gilt CH off it . Duh. If you don't like logos, don't buy them, darling.

Hi Bertie and all the others complaining about the logo, you do not seem to have read Elizabeth's comment, saying that the queen had the logo removed. The original bag of course comes with the logo, but Letizia had it removed.

Vera, thank you! Apologies all round for being too careless to read Elizabeth 's post properly 😖👎

I find this outfit looks distinctly awkward and out-of-sync. It's a good serious outfit for a day focusing on rare diseases, but while individual items are sound I don't feel they harmonise, they rather look thrown together last minute.

The coat is gorgeous, but awkward with the wide cape sleeves, too much detail with everything else, the top is a fine striking design, but sits awkwardly here, bulking at bust and hip. Its distinctive style needs to be showcased toute seule, not in ensemble like this.

The skirt is one I love but here is too heavy and long, the concentration of black is becoming funereal. And I would go so far as to say the corespondent Magrit pumps are disastrous, a truly backfired attempt at a touch of elan which has simply backfired into the near comical. Most unlike Letizia, who despite whatever mood I may be in today, still looks unfailingly lovely!

Hi Bertie, I am looking at the shoes and fail to see anything comical about them. But at least we both agree on the purse and a general dislike for designer logos.

Hi Laura, I'm sure you're right to pull me up on my remark, I think I just found the contrast shoes too crude in this context where I usually respond positively to Letizia 's various style tweaks. I'm glad we have agreement on bag and logos😊

The pieces individually are lovely, but the combination of these garments together, IMO a fail.
The top itself is very impressive and individual. The design and detail is amazing. I would love to see this top, worn within a completely different outfit structure. To appreciate its craftmanship and give a different vibe, thus I do feel it would photograph better.
I just love the coat, again not with this outfit.
The skirt however, I like as a individual piece, but in this instance, the overall look, its too long and bulky for the rest of the ensemble. Shoes are divine, but I dont like them at all, with this outfit. Regardless of my personal opinion the Queen look fabulous.
