On Friday the King and Queen of Spain inaugurated the monument-sculpture 'El Árbol de la vida' (The Tree of Life) in tribute to all health professionals in Spain, in recognition of their work, effort and commitment during the COVID-19 crisis, at Plaza de los Sagrados Corazones, Madrid.

After the welcome, the tribute began with a minutes silence for the health workers who have lost their lives during the pandemic. The president of the General Council of Official Medical Associations and the president of the AMA Foundation gave speeches and Their Majesties received an explanation of the monument, by the artist Jaume Plensa.
Later in the afternoon, Their Majesties visited the Caritas Diocesiana Care Center for the Elderly 'Santa Catalina de Alejandría' in the Madrid municipality of Brea de Tajo.

Caritas, Spain, is the official confederation of the social and charitable action organisations of the Catholic Church in Spain, which was established in 1947. The Brea de Tajo Centre opened in 2019 with the aim of guaranteeing that the elderly within the region have their basic needs met and that they can retain a certain quality of life without leaving their environment. At the centre, a daily menu is prepared for more than a hundred users who are 65 years and above. The program provides a good diet and helps combat loneliness elders may feel with a multipurpose room where memory workshops take place, film screenings or reading clubs.

After the formal greetings, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia received a presentation on the Caritas project for home assistance. The visit concluded with a tour of the Centre's facilities.

Sensible and seasonal, Letizia's outfit hits all the right buttons for a tribute ceremony. The fur collar on the neat Hugo Boss belted coat looks cosy, and the HB pin stripe pants really smart peeking out from underneath. I'm glad the trusty white HB blouse still serves her well and the Uterque Oxfords remain comfy looking as well as stylish.

I love this coat, with its clear, clean lines. The fur collar, mixes it up which is lovely. The neat cropped trousers are perfect, combined with HB white blouse, breaking with colour, smart but understated, essential for this tribute.
P.S I do love the green coat in the 1st pic - gorgeous.

The lady in the green coat is Isabel Diaz Ayuso, the prime minister of the autonomous region of Madrid. I don't like her as a politician, but she is usually very stylish.

Thank you Vera, I was wondering who she was.

I like all of the pieces of this outfit, but for me, they don't flow as cohesively together as they should. There are too many styles and the suit looks best paired with heels. If the trousers were shorter in length, sleek loafers would be complementary. In addition, the belted coat doesn't look entirely comfortable over the long wool blazer. In keeping with Letizia's theme of navy, I would have favoured straight leg navy trousers with crisp creases and a light blue crew-neck knit. I would remove the fur collar and possibly accessorise with the navy scarf worn in Paris (11/03/20). At both events, the ground appeared smooth, therefore, I would have preferred block-heeled ankle boots (I'm assuming this pair 24/10/15 are comfortable as the Queen walked around the village of Colombres in them)
