Queen Letizia wears red for a luncheon in honour of the President & First Lady of Colombia16/9/2021
The King and Queen of Spain hosted a luncheon at the Royal Palace of Madrid in honour of President Iván Duque and the First Lady María Juliana Ruiz, of Colombia, who are making a three-day official visit to Spain.
The visit of President Duque marks 140 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations with Spain, a country that is the main European investor in Colombia and the second in the world, after the United States.
In his speech during the luncheon, King Felipe VI stated that "the ties that unite us do not only look towards the past, but are decidedly projected towards the future ..."

When this dress was first worn last year I thought that odd gathering below the waist was static cling. But I now realize that is actually the design and it is supposed to be that way. It really looks strange and odd to me and spoils the look of the dress. The rest of the design is really quite lovely.

Sandy, I agree with you 100%. This dress makes me want to pull on the skirt and get rid of the wrinkles below the waist. I think this design feature and perhaps the fabric, ruin what would otherwise be a solid look. I do appreciate the colour, the matching shoes and the good choice of those beautiful earrings.

The colour continues to look well on Letizia, but the quality of fabric continues to let down this ensemble from Massimo Dutti. Wearing the top so loose and with the skirt inclined to cling makes Letizia look less than sharp, while underlining an outsize vibe which is looking dated now. The Herrera slingbacks remain ravishing and the Ruby earrings delicious.

From the shoulders up the Queen looks wonderful. Her dark hair, smoky eyes and tangy red dress, remind me of Italian beauty, actor & model, Monica Bellucci. In regards to the Massimo Dutti dress, I stand by my 2020 critique. I strongly dislike it. The skirt is extremely unflattering, especially during motion (photographs on Getty highlight this). I'm unsure whether the fabric has static or if it's poor placement of pleating. At a high-end price point, Victoria Beckham makes dresses similar to this silhouette (see link). VB's dress successfully combines dolman sleeves, a waist seam, and a full skirt, just like MD's, but, the effect is so much cleaner.

This is a lovely outfit, love the splash of colour. The folds of fabric below the waist are a distraction. I too, thought it was static, but alas part of the design. I don't feel it enhances this outfit at all. Love the CH slingbacks, they are a gorgeous colour.
