King Felipe and Queen Letizia attended a gala banquet dinner this evening at the Royal Palace in Rabat, hosted by King Mohammed VI of Morocco.
The Spanish monarchs are currently on a two day State visit to the Kingdom of Morocco and arrived earlier today.
Queen Letizia was a vision in white, wearing a new kaftan-inspired Felipe Varela number consisting of a floor length slip and a sheer embroidered tunic with floral motifs.
She complemented the outfit with her metallic silver clutch (reportedly by Felipe Varela), and Magrit 'Hera' silver metallic sandals.
Letizia topped off the elegant look with the "joyas de pasar" diamond chanton earrings.

Amazing look! She will probably have difficulties to wear it again as this is quite an "oriental" look, but we count on her to find ways of wearing it again!

I've been hoping to be blown away by Queen since the embroidered dress at the Princess of Asturias awards. This gown is exquisite, such intricate craftsmanship and entirely appropriate and considered for the event. Hair and makeup perfect, I don't think you can go wrong with the 'jovas de pasar' diamond chanton earrings! Minor quibble, I've never liked these sandals but you can barely see them and they give her the extra height for the gown. Utterly elegant and regal.

I adore this outfit, it's so simple, classic, and still utterly brilliant. That plain jacket, crew neck, edge-to-edge, has been worked a thousand times before, it's a style that defies time and fashion and remains essentially practical and versatile, but of course this one is transformed by the exquisite embroidery and embellishment into a thing of beauty forever. The scallop edges are a neat touch to add decoration for an evening outfit. Hair, make-up, accessories -- including drop-dead gorgeous earrings --are perfect, and Letizia has pulled off a complete Disney-princess look without sacrificing one iota of her natural chic and elegance.

As usual, your turn of phrase brings life to every garment :). At first glance it is unmistakably a Varela. The delicacy of the lace, the extravagance of the beading, the proportions highlighting the body contour, ....perfect! There was only one Queen on that red carpet and it showed. The Lallas hold up their gowns (seems a cultural thing) the Queen let hers flow in her wake. The accessories and updo...winner. For big occasions, she always turns it up to 11.

This is a absolutely exquisite dress. The detail of the dress amazing! It is not bridal looking at all. Love her accessories, her hair and makeup just right! The overall effect beautifully groomed

Actually, when I first saw the photos of the dress I thought it looked very much like a bridal gown. A bride could wear it and get away with it. I think it's the length, white colour and embellishments that give that impression.

In Morocco brides do not wear white, if not bright colours. Felipe and Mohamed know each other since kids, they know all well .

This is such an elegant look on Queen Letizia. The embroidery shows up so well on the sleeves down the length of her arms. An exquisite outfit.
