The King and Queen of Spain hosted the annual Diplomatic Corps reception at the Royal Palace of Madrid today.

Their Majesties greeted foreign diplomats and ambassadors as they arrived in the palace's Throne Room.

Queen Letizia looked resplendent in a new burgundy maxi skirt teamed with her white Hugo Boss 'Blusil' Stretch Silk Blouse.

The slim full length skirt has a mock wrap silhouette with buttons at the left hip and contrasting satin trim. The brand/designer is unknown but it's reportedly NOT by Felipe Varela.

On her feet she wore her Uterqüe curved heel burgundy suede pumps.

Letizia finished the look with her diamonds cascading earrings, first worn at the Prince of Asturias concert in 2014.

The skirt is beautiful when you consider all the details- the fabric (I think it's velvet), the great merlot/wine colour, the mock wraparound style, the buttons on the hips and the maxi length. It's an original and unique look along with the lovely matching shoes. I don't care for the blouse because it looks like the sleeves are too long. This could have been easily fixed with an alteration. I also don't like the hairstyle-too messy and unflattering on Letizia's face.

While Letizia is very polished, the blouse looks rather informal compared to the outfits worn in the past to this event. I think her top should be special, not something to be worn with a busihess suit.

I am in love. I would wear this exactly as shown. It's perfect. I think the blouse is very "special" with the silk fabric, the pleats, and the unique neckline/collar with the covered buttons echoing the covered buttons on the skirt. To me this is the height of elegance. And the colours! Merlot and white - I've died and gone to heaven with this ensemble. Oh, I like the hair and the make up too :-)

An elegant winter outfit, beautifully accessorised with matching shoes and gorgeous diamond earrings - which remind me of morning frost. Perfect shade of lipstick but I'm not 100% sold on the hairstyle and I love a low slightly imperfect bun.

A fabulous outfit from Letizia, elegant, classic and fabulous. These floor-length skirt outfits are a boon for her, they help ring a change in evening wear. The skirt looks like a sumptuous velvet especially in that rich plum colour. I like her style of messy updo, she never goes over the top with her versions, and those earrings are gorgeous and just make for this outfit.
