Letizia, the present Queen of Spain joined her mother-in-law, Queen Sofia at El Pardo Palace to deliver the Reina Sofia 2014 Awards of the Royal Board on Disability. This is the first occasion the royal pair have co-chaired an institutional act since the proclamation of King Felipe VI in June last year.
Today marked the final edition of the ‘Reina Sofia Awards’ and henceforth the award will be referred to as the ‘Queen Letizia Award’.
The wife and mother of King Felipe VI have always had a genuine respect for one another and that was evident again today. Not only did the two Spanish Queens seem to enjoy each other’s company but their outfits also complimented one another. Both opted for a skirt suit in springtime hues; Letizia in solid blush pink and Sofia in a mint floral print.
Letizia's ensemble is repeat of the one she wore during a visit to the United States in November 2013.
The outfit consists of a Felipe Varela blush pink wool skirt suit with a lace blouse.
She accessorized with a tonal patent belt and clutch, and her beige suede 'Leonor' pumps. All her accessories are from Magrit.
There was one significant difference to her outfit today compared to the first time she wore it. She changed up her choice of jewelry, opting to wear the Yanes flower blossom earrings and ring which dates back to 2005. This was a perfect match for her Spring ensemble. However, I was surprised to see her wear a ring. This is only the second occasion Her Majesty has worn a ring since becoming Queen almost a year ago. The first instance was only a fortnight ago at Queen Margrethe's 75th birthday party.
Tomorrow, Queen Letizia will finish the working week at Zarzuela Palace where she will attend various audiences.
