The much anticipated official photos of the Spanish royal family on summer holidays in Palma were released today.
The media and photographers were invited to Marivent Palace on Sunday for the traditional photocall which usually occurs at the commencement of the family's vacation on the island of Mallorca.
This year there was a delay and I initially thought the photos taken during the Kings Cup regatta last Thursday would serve as the summer family portraits so I'm glad I was wrong!
The annual summer portrait sitting was started by King Juan Carlos. Felipe has continued his father's tradition since his enthronement. Below is a look back at the photos since King Felipe's VI reign.

This year Queen Letizia wore a pretty pink and white floral print midi dress by Adolfo Domínguez (ID by @ufonomore).
The fit-and-flare frock is from the designer's Spring 2018 collection and has unfortunately sold out. The back of the sleeveless fit-and-flare dress has a deep v-cut.
She teamed it with her trusty Mint & Rose 'Sardinia' espadrille wedges .
Letizia finished the feminine look with a new pair of dainty butterfly earrings by Gold & Roses (€659), and her favourite Karen Hallam gold-plated ring.

This year's outfit is my favourite. I love that QL is wearing lots of dresses recently.

This is such a romantic ensemble, with the dreamy print and deep V back. The fitted bodice extenuates her tiny waist and the fullness of the skirt gives the appearance of curves. The fuchsia to pastel pink fade of the peony print reminds me of raspberry ripple ice cream. This feels like a slight departure from previous ensembles worn at the summer photocall, it's far more feminine than anything I remember. The lace up espadrilles and loose hair add to the enchantment of the look.

I now have a craving for raspberry swirl ice cream! It's hard to find that flavor.

The Queen looks beautiful. I love the cut of the bodice, the length of the dress is spot on. The colour is gorgeous. Not a fan of wedges, but in this instance they look great with what she is wearing. The 1st group photo is so nice.. Looking back at photos from the start in 2014, seeing the changes as the girls grow, they are a credit to their parents. They are a lovely family.

My what a beautiful family! Letizia looks very pretty in this feminine dress. I agree with Jennifer, that the pattern looks like swirls of raspberry ripple ice cream. I am not a fan of wedges and would have preferred a white sandal.

She gave up wearing sandals because she was criticised due to show her feet.

few days ago she was heard praising to her daughters a young girl working at the beach club by telling them "she works and studies at the same time. That's effort". Coming from a middle class background where she had to work in order to get her Masters, no one better than Letizia to know how important it is to work hard.....and if you come from a privileged background even more so.

Good for her. Letizia has always struck me as a very down-to-earth, no-nonsense lady. It would be great if her daughters are like her.

I feel this ought to be the prettiest of dresses but in some cases maybe it doesn't photograph well. The fit-and-flare style is usually good on Letizia. a V-neck generally suits her, and the print is in a lovely holiday colour and another welcome break from monochrome. But here's something about the fit of the bodice that strikes me as odd, the v-neck slips too wide, the bodice looks short and the result is close to frumpy. Not so in close-ups from the waist up I notice! Maybe I'm still suffering from espadrille-allergy, they look so clunky to me with all the lacing and ties. Some simpler summer pumps might complement this dress better, I wonder if Jennifer has any ideas from her encyclopedic knowledge of the Spanish regal accessory closet!!

Hi Bertie, you made me chuckle :o) I did look through the Queen's current inventory of shoes and thought that these were the best match. If sandals and heels raise question marks it might be wise not to wear them, this doesn't leave many options other than espadrilles and flat pumps. For the fun of it, I did search for a couple of alternatives which have a vintage feel to complement the 50's inspired dress. They wouldn't be suitable as they are heeled sandals, but I think sandals may work best. They are by Spanish designers, have chunky heels, ankles straps and are very versatile. Laura mentioned a white sandal but I found it very difficult to find anything that I thought would work from Spain so the white is French.

Jennifer, thank you for doing this research. I love your enthusiasm for this blog. Both the sandals you found are beautiful especially the MB Lauratropri Ankle- Wrap sandals. Unfortunately, as some posters have pointed out Letizia is not allowed to wear them as they reveal too much of the foot and toes. The Michel Vivien Victoriale sandals look like the toe might be enclosed in a type of "cage". I can't tell from the picture. They might have been allowed. But its a shame she has limitations as I would have loved to have seen them with this dress.

Thank you so much for humouring me Jennifer, most kind! I could live with all of those, the white Vivien pair are so pretty!! However, I see I am now firmly put in my place with the Adolfo Dominguez ID with stock photo showing the dress worn with full-on tied espadrilles.. :-D

Beautiful dress but I wouldn't wear wedges with it.

I love the floral print of this dress. Even though the flowers are quite large they are not overpowering. Peonies are one of my favorite flowers so it's great to see them depicted on this fabric. I do find the deep V neckline a bit too low in the back. It looks like Letizia bones or muscles are protruding too much. Looking back at 2015 and 2016 I really liked Letizia's hair cropped to chin length. It was very flattering on her and made her look younger

The dress is pretty and on trend.H&M has an entire line in blue in this pattern for the summer. At the back the deep V seems ready to slip off one shoulder, which is probably why the fit at the front looks odd to some. The wedges are a cultural thing, so she can be forgiven. Also, let us not forget that she was heavily criticized in the Spanish press for wearing her Prada pumps on the grass to visit Mrs. Obama's garden at the White House.

Can someone help me to tell the two princesses apart? Which is Leonor and which is Sofia?

Sofia is taller and has dark eyes while Leonor is shorter and has blue eyes. Sofia despite being taller is actually younger than Leonor.
