I know Letizia is a queen and she often has to look very formal and dress very appropriately for the occasion. But heels are very damaging to your posture, legs and back and can have life long effects if worn for long periods of time very frequently. Personally I HATE heels and would never ever wear them, even low heels. They look very uncomfortable and the effects are very damaging. I just don't understand why it is protocol for all women to wear heels to formal events and engagements, it's like a unwritten law. Recently Lady Lousie wore heels for the easter church service and since she had recently been a in skiing incident, when I watched a video on her walking she looked very uncomfortable and didn't really walk properly and didn;t look like she knew how to walk properly in heels and also she was limping a little. I don't think that this is personal choice, as if I was recovering from a skiing incident then I wouldn't wear uncomfortable shoes at all. As for the duchess of Cambridge she is over eight months pregnant and wearing HEELS. Seriously?

But nevertheless I love queen Letizia's coat it is very beautiful and suitable for the occasion.

I agree. It's madness.

I agree with everything you said, G. I don't think royal protocol requires heels that are over 5". It is Letizia's choice to wear them that high. I think she is very self conscious about her height because she is surrounded by such tall people all the time. I personally would be afraid of losing my balance & falling in those heels especially on that uneven pavement. That's why it appears she is hanging on to Felipe for dear life in one photo.

I find the heels thing especially weird given all the emphasis on 'health' via regular gym attendance and diets which maintain slim figures. They go to all that trouble and then wreck their feet with heels!

However, I differ on views on Louisa's heels, they were so low in my view as to be little different from a good pair of riding boots. They were a more grown-up style than we have seen before and looked lovely on her.

Felipe's grandfather wasn't an Infante because he was the heir, Conde de Barcelona was one of his titles, he resigned though and Juan Carlos was on the throne.
Infantes are the King's children who won't become Monarch.
Felipe's father and Emeritus King is Juan Carlos I.
I hope these corrections don't bother you, I Know the Daily Mail says it wrong and it's difficult for a foreign.
Cheers!

Thank you for the insight! I got the information from Wikipedia who I thought I could trust!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infante_Juan,_Count_of_Barcelona

So could I simply just write Juan of Spain, Count of Barcelona?

Perfect!! and the Emeritus King is Juan Carlos I of Spain!! ( Felipe's dad) ( John Charles in English), he joined his two first names.
A big hug.

Oh dear, I didn't realize I left out Carlos!

Wiki is wrong, I know it's a mess. In Spain only are called Princess or Prince the heirs, Crown Prince. The rest King's children are called Infante (male), Infanta (female)... However the rank is the same to others Princes in other countries.
As Leonor, Princess of Asturias ( as Charles is the Prince of Wales) and Sofia, Infanta of Spain.
Easy!!

You are doing it perfectly!! I understand these things are a bit confused.

That is one stunning coat and Letizia wears it beautifully. She's right to choose a heavier style of shoe with platform and extended heel to balance the weight of the solid black coat. I'm afraid I find butterfly earrings too twee for my own taste, but I'm happy to buy your assessment of them as delicate! A home run for the Spanish Queen

What happened between Sophia and Letizia during the Easter service at church? The media here is reporting about some kind of a feud. I am really confused.

Did you see the film, Maya? It seemed as if Letizia was unhappy for Sofía to pose for photographs with her daughters inside the church. Who knows? It only lasted a moment and may not have been anything serious. Apart from that, the whole family looked happy and relaxed.

The video shows a grotesque scene between Queen Sofia and Queen Letizia. It's hard to understand what happened but I feel very sorry for Queen Sofia.
