The King and Queen of Spain departed for an official visit to Japan today.
Their Majesties were farewelled with honors at Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas airport this evening.
King Felipe and Queen Letizia's trip to Japan marks their first state visit to Asia since their proclamation in 2014. The royal couple will meet with Japan's Emperor Akihito and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe during their 3 day visit commencing on April 5th.
Queen Letizia departed in style, opting for a timeless trench coat for the long haul flight.
The piece is by Burberry as verified by the check lining shown below. It has been a favourite of the Spanish royal since 2010.
Under the coat we got a glimpse of a black leather skirt which Letizia teamed with her black Hugo Boss 'Fabrisia' pure wool sweater (£129).
