The tight fitting black top is an excellent choice for this pleated skirt because it accentuates the waist and prevents Letizia from looking too wide. Although she rarely has that problem it does help the outfit remain balanced. The asymmetrical hem is unusual and interesting along with the gold metallic colour.

The whole family look great here and I think Letizia has had a better strike with her Massimo Dutti skirt than the previous red dress. The gold knife-pleating is naturally elegant and the asymmetry of the hem is camouflaged by its length which allows it to swish nicely round the ankles and mercifully mask those wedge espadrilles I don't like!

I think this is a fabulous look on Queen Letizia and agree that the fitted black top is a great choice to balance out the fullness of the pleated skirt.

This ensembles contemporary take on timeless classics is stylish and on-trend. In general, I'm not overly fond of asymmetrical hemlines. The Queen has worn many adaptations of the style over the last year, most of her choices haven't quite worked for me (with the exception of the Victoria Beckham separates and white dress worn earlier in the year), but I adore this piece. The skirt is full of femininity and rippling movement. I prefer it to the more expensive options I have seen, combined with the black tank top which gives the impression of a bodysuit, it's effortlessly alluring while modest. The tank neatly balances the volume in the bottom half of the look, ribbing at the sides subtly coordinates with the pleats. Alparagatas add a relaxed note to the look, we barely catch a glimpse of the straps, they are a woven mix of black, natural and gold which harmonise with the tones above. Fortunately, the fussy tassels are hidden by the length of the skirt. It's a rare treat to see Letizia sport a handbag, the sleek saddle design is the perfect size for a summer evening and its equestrian trimmings provide polish to the simple design. After my scathing review of the Massimo Dutti red dress, this skirt is a relief. Moving forward, I hope the Queen compromises less on cut and fabric in her high street picks when there are gems like this to be found.

Another lovely and insightful comment, thank you. I sometimes wonder if those knife-pleat skirts don't benefit from the budget-friendly synthetic fabrics as they often hang well in that style. Like you I'm pleased to see the new bag, though personally always found a saddle design a pain to use, especially as a city commuter needing fast access to purse etc. The flap needed more space to open than a crowded station would allow! I don't think I hold the Queen's choice of the unfortunate red dress against her, for me the onset of major cling can be unforseeable. A garment can hang ok one day and then on another entirely let one down like that. Sometimes a change in the weather can upset the thing. Certainly once it happens I never use that item again!

This is a fabulous outfit. Its stylish but elegant. The Hugo Boss top is the perfect choice for this golden pleated skirt, the golden colour is glorious. I am not normally a fan of asymmetrical hemlines, but this appeals to me. The new crossbody black bag is ultra modern and chic. I love the hoop earrings.
