The King and Queen of Spain continued their 6-day visit to the USA and received an official welcome to the City of San Antonio today following three days in New Orleans.
Their Majesties visited the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park and marked the tricentennial of the city's founding with a Commemorative Plaque. San Antonio was founded on May 1, 1718, when a Spanish expedition from Mexico established the Mission San Antonio de Valero. King Felipe and Queen Letizia were presented with the first edition of the keys to the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Any idea where Letitzia’s colorful Spanish fan was bought?

This is a beautiful look and the dress is very flattering. I wish she had used a purse that is a favourite of mine. It is the one made of burgundy leather and covered with leather flowers.

This is another lovely summer dress. I love the understated red/white print. And it's "custom". Does that mean it was made especially for Letizia? It's very appropriate because I heard the weather in the southern U.S is very hot and humid. But. poor Felipe must still wear a full suit with tie and closed shoes. I always thought it was unfair women can wear light summer clothes, shorts and sandals but men have to suffer in the heat.

Yes, that's right, it means it was specially made for Letizia. I feel for King Felipe also! Texas summer heat is unbearable! I lived in Texas for a few years (my husband is from Houston originally) but I wasn't used to such humid conditions because I'm accustomed to Australian summers in the south which are very dry.

The worst part is the humidity, we have 33C in Madrid already but not so much humid....In the Mediterranean part you can find more humidity..

You're not alone Amaia. It was 32 C yesterday in Toronto, Canada and today is expected to be 31 C with a good dose of humidity as well.

It may be the effect of the pattern in photos but somehow this dress seems to sit oddly on Letizia. The neckline seems an odd droopy sort of shape and the bodice looks a little matronly despite being skint-tight. The waist seems to come up a fraction high and the skirt pleats bulge over her tummy when they need to be lower over her hips. I wish I could like it more, but it's not clicking with me.

So far, Letizia's wardrobe has been very balanced. A good mix of repeats and newer pieces. The custom CH pieces are both practical and elegant choices for the southern heat. She still looks stately, but at the same time, she appears accessible. Well done!

Lynn Weddington Tucker, the fan is property of the Mayor's wife. She lent it to the Queen

Thanks, Gio. How interesting to learn that the mayor’s wife, Erika Prosper Nirenberg, started her life as a migrant worker in the fields before earning her degrees.
