Letizia looks just beautiful. I love the shoes and purse with this pretty dress. The belt and button details add pizazz. Donald Trump would likely give Letizia a 10. Melania looks very stylish also.

Give me pared down Letizia rather than overdressed Melania any day. I never quite get Flotus' dress sense, it seems to come out of a private world of her own. I like Letizia's diplomatic adoption of US Kors label. She has to be the planet's most accomplished wearer of a sheath dress. Love the fit of this and the colour holds up well against the White House backdrop. The gold buttons on a clever diagonal at her hip give just the right touch of formal undertone. The gold belt & pink accessories keep everything very polished. I'm glad she survived the dreaded two-handed Trump handshake.

Bertie, I see Letizia's belt and button detail as sliver, not gold, but screens and lighting can give different looks. As for Melania's style, she is a former model. Likely during that time she was dressed in very edgy, high fashion clothes, that pushed the envelope in design and colour. Letizia is a former journalist and TV news reader. So perhaps their earlier careers shaped their fashion sense.

Sorry, but she wasn't a newsreader, instead a reporter, she was at Irak war and at the 11M attacks broadcasting live..

I meant 11S.....11M was in Madrid and I was there in Atocha ....
She worked for the CNN too...

I'm sorry for passing comment on Melania, it had no place here. I agree both women have their own culture and experiences to colour their choices. As a European who has worked on newspapers doubtless I simply feel more at home with Letizia's picks . Melanie is lovely in her own right.

PS Thanks for the update on the belt colour!

Sorry if I am mistaken Sonia. The Wikipedia page about Letizia, says "journalist for ABC and EFE before becoming a news anchor at CNN+ and Televisión Española." Usually a news anchor reads the news. Nevertheless, Letizia is very accomplished and has a Master's degree. This would make her background and shape her clothing choices, to be very different from Melania.

Of Course Laura, she was very "hippie" and travelled "backpacking trip"?? is it correct?? So you can see all of a sudden she wears "weird" clothes..

There you go, Letizia as a Irak war reporter..

Since this is a fashion blog I will keep my mouth shut about Mr. Trump and his lunatic policies. But I will say he could learn a few lessons on diplomacy and class from King Felipe. As for Letizia's dress; I love the beautiful blush pink colour and style. She looks great overall except for those buttons on the hips. They look bulky and are an unnecessary detail. The silver belt is a nice touch.
Melania's dress is over the top as usual. But it is interesting and it suits her. Quite a contrast between the two ladies,

Both ladies look beautiful. I imagine it must have been hot in a wool-blend dress on such a hot day in DC!

I'm loving the new dresses on this tour, they are so simple and stylish. I imagine them all together like a fabulous fresh bunch of summer flowers.

Queen Letizia rocks! This is understated elegance at its finest! But honestly, the stand out in the photograph is King Felipe! Gorgeous man!

Great dress, good color. Sadly, the accesories ruin the outfit. I think metalic shoes and bag would have been much more suitable for the occasion and setting.

Barbie type doll, doesn't exist in Spain, it's very common all pink in summer...

She looks so elegant and chic! I love this look. My favourite is the black and white polka dot dress, though. So stylish and classy Great looks for this trip and I think Melania's dress is nice as well
