The prize is the highest recognition of the creative work of Spanish and Hispanic American writers whose work has enriched the literary heritage in the Spanish language. The award is named after Miguel de Cervantes, author of Don Quixote, who is widely regarded as the greatest writer in the Spanish language. The annual event is held on 23rd April at the University of Alcalá in the town of Alcalá de Henares, commemorating the death of Miguel de Cervantes, however, this year the pandemic prevented the event from going ahead.
The jury awarded the 2019 prize to Joan Margarit, a Spanish poet, architect and retired professor.  After the formal greetings at the Palacio de Albéniz, Their Majesties presented the award which was followed by a conversation with the winner and his wife, Mariona Ribalta.

She premiered the piece earlier this year for the Solemn Opening Ceremony of the XIV Legislature. The designer still remains unidentified.

Letizia again opted to accessorize the dress with her studded snakeskin pumps and clutch by Magrit.

Their Majesties are expected to resume royal duties in the first week of the new year when they preside over the traditional celebration of the Pascua Militar on 6th January 2020. I suspect it may be a scaled back ceremony due to COVID restrictions.
Feliz Navidad and Happy New Year to all my readers!

Such a pretty dress and a rare new one for this year, so a quick repeat is most welcome to get a better look. Elsewhere I'm pretty much over asymmetric hems and frayed edges, but here they are worked beautifully into an integrated look. The hang of the softly flared skirt is lovely, the neck slit echoes the V-hem, the waist band sits perfectly, neither too high or too low. The Magrit snakeskin accessories act as a classy contrast.

The two young princesses look just sensational in the lovely Christmas card, both effortlessly glamorous!

The Queen looks lovely, but I am not a fan of asymmetric hems and frayed edges. Her choice of shoes is spot on, the snakeskin pumps are perfect.
The Christmas card photo of the two Pss, is superb. Natural, they are lovely young ladies.

I'm hoping that in 2021 we see a departure from asymmetrical hemlines. Despite this, 03/02/20 remains one of my favourite ensembles of the year (minus the black cape). The fabric was expertly chosen, the weight ensures that the architectural line hangs beautifully. Most importantly, the drape of the skirt is perfectly balanced by the clean design, where other examples we have seen over the last two years have appeared overworked. Letizia looked charming in Barcelona, but the dress excelled in February with the sleek updo and statement earrings, understandably details are currently restrained.

As others have stated the asymmetrical hemline is getting tiresome. This is a lovely dress and a straight hem would have been so much better. Nice choice of shoes.

It's great to see this dress again. The fit is perfect. The quality of the fabric shows in that it drapes/holds its form beautifully. The fraying and asymmetrical hem are architectural details, that separates it from a similar CH last worn in Cuba. The repeated accessories are edgy additions that we have come to expect from her. It gave rise to an 'Aquarius' moment (reference to the points being aligned for those who know the song) with the cape playing its part.

The year of repeats offered some highlights, but more importantly the repeats forced the rags to look at her work in order to have something to write about. There were stylistic high points however:
The blue coat dress of Military Easter.
The asymmetrical white dress in the above article.
The red dress (AD?)worn for a walkabout on summer vacation.
The white dress (Aida) worn in Ibiza
The repeat of the CH lavender and grey coat dress in Valencia

Hi Zoe, always lovely to read your thoughts. Thanks for sharing your favourite style moments of 2020, great choices! The simplicity of the red AD dress shone with complementary accessories. Here are mine, sadly, mostly dark colours or monochrome.
1. 17/02/20 COS navy dress - sleek and sophisticated, amazing pick from the high street
2. 3/02/20 White dress - I adored the frothy fringe edges against the tough studded accessories
3. 14/01/20 Carolina Herrera poppy skirt - beautifully styled, down to the rolled-up cuffs
A special mention to:
28/05/20 Hugo Boss tweed zip jacket - understated chic
17/02/20 Emporio Armani polka dot dress - when the light caught the fabric it was ethereal in motion
