Letizia last wore this waistcoat with a shorter, wider pair of pink trousers that didn't work in my opinion. I was hoping she would pair it with a more tapered or skinny pant like the one she wore here. This time is works and looks great.

There's something odd about this waistcoat, I wonder why it has to be fastened as that seems to make the textured fabric bulk up at the bust and look awkward. I would have thought it could be worn loose. It ought to work with black, but worn sleeveless it looks oddly mean and the Zara fabric is lumpy for the summery context. I like the trousers and love the new Dutti slippers, they look heavenly to wear :)

Hi Bertie, I find the black harsh. I feel overly critical commenting on this ensemble where Letizia moved from hotel to car, but I would exchange the black separates for white slim-cut trousers, a white vest and flat sandals. Letizia has many pretty Magrit pairs, this sighting most likely didn't last long, so a brief appearance of sandals hopefully wouldn't offend anyone. I think the waistcoat fastens at the seam line (which is high on the waist) to give the illusion of longer legs. I agree that it may have looked more natural undone.

Good point, white separates might do the trick, but, as Sandy also says, tapered and skinny not wide and loose. That's a good theory about the vest fastening. I wonder if the fabric might be so stiff as to cause the garment to slip off when she moves an arm and make secure fastening a necessity.

I think here we find another cultural difference. In Spain we wear also black or dark in summer, that thing I sometimes read about "summery colours" is not Spanish. It must be because most of the country has sun even in winter, so they would always dress "sumnery".

Hi Simone, sorry I didn't explain myself very well. I find the black harsh against the pale pink, in addition, the textured fabric of the waistcoat appears sturdy which creates a heaviness overall. I have no problem with black or dark colours being worn in the summer. The sun shone brightly here today and I wore full navy :o)

The jury is still out of this waistcoat, I am still not sure why, something is not quite right, the fastening has me perplexed but there must be a reason? The HB black pants look great, the soft leather loafers are divine. My favourite bucket bag is the perfect finishing touch.
