The Queen of Spain presided over the opening ceremony of the World Blindness Summit Madrid 2021 at the Sports and Cultural Complex of the ONCE Social Group in Madrid.
The summit brings together the greatest experts in blind education in the world and more than 3500 blind and severely visually impaired people will participate in person and online from nearly 190 countries.
After a brief meeting with the attending authorities and personalities, Her Majesty addressed the auditorium and stressed that "There is not a single relevant matter that this summit, this meeting, is not going to deal with: inclusion, employment, innovation and transformation, accessible and usable technologies, leisure, culture, sport, mobility, the full participation of people with blindness, visually impaired and multiple disabilities in all the aspects that affect their vital development”.

The print of this outfit is a bit strong and overwhelming. I would love to see it broken up and paired with some solid black or white separates.

I agree Sandy. There is just too much of a bold, overall print. The skirt would be nice with a black top, or the top would be nice with a black skirt. As you suggest white would also work well. I'm glad Letizia added some red shoes. I always have red shoes in my closet and love to pair them with black, grey, navy, white and if the shade it a match, even a red outfit. They just add a bit of wow factor.

Oops, both Sandy and I suggested a solid top or bottom in black or white. When I checked back to when Letizia wore this outfit in November 19, the outfit is described as navy and white. So of course, if the top or skirt were worn as separates, it would be paired with navy, not black.

It's lovely to see this pretty Victoria Beckham two-piece, it is a delightful outfit. I don't know if the use of a visually bold print is meant to be a nod to the hard-of-seeing, given the Summit theme, and I'm not sure the imaginative use of contrast pattern directions would necessarily anyone struggling to look at it. But as an original, contemporary working outfit for a Queen it works wonderfully. The red Herrera slingbacks are a happy repeat for a summer wearing.

Hi Jennifer, thanks for thinking of me, I'm fine. I'm afraid matters domestic came to the fore and I couldn't make it to the keyboard, I've done a quick catch-up on all the recent posts in the hope I keep up to date!

This is a lovely outfit, especially with the red shoes, but I am not a fan of these hemlines. Regardless the Queen looks lovely.
