Leonor, Princess of Asturias celebrated her 18th birthday today, marking a major milestone in her journey as heir to the Spanish throne.
The celebrations began with a swearing-in ceremony at the Spanish parliament in Madrid, where Princess Leonor pledged her allegiance to the Spanish Constitution. The ceremony was attended by her parents, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, and her younger sister, Infanta Sofia.
After the oath ceremony, King Felipe VI bestowed upon his eldest daughter the Collar of the Royal and Distinguished Spanish Order of Charles III, the highest honor of the Spanish Kingdom. This solemn ceremony took place at the Royal Palace of Madrid.
Subsequently, a lunch was offered and attended by government officials.
In addition to the official celebrations, Leonor's birthday was also celebrated by the Spanish people. Many people took to the streets of Madrid and other cities to wave Spanish flags and cheer for the future queen.
For the official ceremonies, Queen Letizia brought back the peacock blue Carolina Herrera Keyhole Dress, first worn during last year's state visit to Germany.
She again accessorized the dress with a tonal top-handle bag by Magrit, but today, she chose a new pair of nude leather mid-heel pumps, although their brand remains unidentified.
Letizia personalized her outfit by adorning the Bulgari aquamarine and diamond hoops, which were said to be a gift from the luxury Italian jeweler in celebration of Princess Leonor's birth.
The earrings feature detachable aquamarine drops, which were initially introduced in May 2006.
They were also worn by Princess Leonor for the first time at the 2023 Princess of Asturias Awards ceremony earlier this month.
Her Majesty wrapped herself in the tan Carolina Herrera Fur Collar Cape as she joined her family for a walkabout to greet the members of the public who had gathered outside the Royal Palace to convey their birthday wishes to Leonor.
In the evening, the royal family hosted a private birthday party at the Royal Palace of El Pardo. Queen Letizia was seen wearing a stack of joyas de pasar diamond bracelets on her left arm as she arrived at the Palace.

Both of the young princesses have developed an impressive dress style. As for Letizia, she looks great, but what in the world are those dipsy doodles on her shoulders? They are not on the model's dress. The dress is beautiful in colour and detail. I preferred the shoes worn previously with this dress, as they matched in colour. I always think that nude shoes make one look like they have bare feet. The earrings are stunning, especially with the drop

Yes, the dress looks so much better without the frou-frou details on the shoulders. They make the dress look too fussy.

Dipsy doodles sums it up nicely. I thought the embellishments looked like some sort of unpleasant growth. I don't think the concept, whatever it was, has translated well to digital imagery!

Nice family photos. They all look great. Happy event for Leonor! I do not hope that they are making Sofia wear flat shoes all the time since she is taller than Leonor. Both girls have great potential.

I thought Sofia was staying in flats voluntarily out of respect. I agree both girls have great potential and we may yet see some development in Sofia's footwear :-)

Leonor looks every inch a queen in waiting in the magnificent Charles II collar, it sits very well over the beautiful white pant suit by Sastreria, itself a sweet tribute to her mother's engagement outfit. She looks very well with her hair pulled back from her face, and I adore the Lodi block heel pumps

"Sastrería" is not a brand, It is a taylor shop, actually they sew military uniforms and her father's suits. It is "Sastrería Serna", Serna is the surname of the taylor.

Do agree with your comments, Bertie, only it's the Charles III collar and not Charles II.

Thanks Vera, I know that, I'm afraid this was a case of Fat Thumb Syndrome!

, She were Born To Be A Queen. I love her styles. She really looks like his father especially the eyes and lips, whereas her sister is looks like her mother. Both are very tall Princess Leonor is 176cm and Infanta Sofia is 183cm. I'm pretty sure Infanta Sofia will be taller than her Dad King Felipe whose 197cm. Their mother is 170cm
