King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, accompanied by their youngest daughter, Infanta Sofía, celebrated the 'National Day of Spain' in Madrid. Their eldest daughter, Leonor, Princess of Asturias, is currently studying at the UWC Atlantic College in Wales.

The National Day is an annual national holiday that commemorates the discovery of the Americas by Christopher Columbus for Spain on 12th October 1492. It is marked with a military parade.
Following the parade, Their Majesties hosted a reception in the Throne Room of the Royal Palace where they had invited diplomats and Spanish dignitaries.

The Queen's hairdo is very interesting. I don't think that sage color does her any favors though, seems to me to wash her out. Sophia looks lovely and the dress suits her.

The dress is lovely but the bland colour choice is disappointing for this occasion. Queen Letizia fades into the background in this dress.

That thing about "stand out" is not Spanish, Felipe II the great emperor usted to wear only black clothes and spoke about austerity. That must be in UK and Queen Victoria, but not in Spain. Because of that Letizia wears black and white a lot and bright colours only sometimes.

This dress is gorgeous, love it. The sage color, gorgeous. The soft draping across the shoulders and neckline adding interest, its unusual, fabulous. Her up do and makeup look perfect. The diamond and pearl earrings are excellent quality, very versatile, day or night, beautiful. The single pearl is a nice size, larger than small. I would wear these beauties in a heartbeat!

The delicacy of the Vogana dress has been achieved well. It fits and hangs nicely. This is a lovely look on the Queen. If sadly, a little forgettable. At a high price point, this style can look utterly beautiful if made in a luxurious fabric. Several years ago, 'The Row' produced the 'Lima blouse' in silk-faille. I appreciate that it came at a very hefty price tag of £1,540. The drape of the blouse is divine! Combined with the sophisticated print the statement piece leaves a lasting impression. (Just to clarify, I am not suggesting Letizia spend £1000+ on clothes. I just wanted to note the drape of silk.)

I think this dress is very feminine and elegant. The top is very interesting the way the fabric drapes the neck as well as the cutouts in the sleeves. It's the perfect length and the bone accessories were a good choice.

This dress is so pretty but I agree, sage is not the wearer's best colour. In fact, I think that in terms of colour, the Queen and the Infanta should've switched. I bet the sage would be fantastic on Infanta Sophia.

The Vogana dress looks quite pretty on the model, but it's not working so well for me on Letizia. I find it too vague and indeterminate for a military or palace setting, it has more of a boho vibe. The fabric, print and colour are lovely, but I'm struggling with the high faux shawl neck and unnecessary sleeve slits.

The wide self-belt, gathered bodice and long sleeves with full cuff are all nicely worked in themselves, but I'm finding the overall effect a bit sad. If the aim was to fade into the background and give Sofia her solo moment in bright blue Herrera spots then that certainly worked and its fun that mother and daughter both play with polka dots in their outfits.

White courts are not my own favourite, but the Magrit accessories work well against the pale Vogana print. The white gold diamond and Australian drop earrings are to die for and the lovely updo showcases them perfectly.
