The temporary exhibition is the National Heritage homage to Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino (1483-1520) an Italian painter and architect of the High Renaissance, known as Raphael, on the V centenary of his death.

The exhibition takes place in the Gallery of the Royal Palace of Madrid, a space in keeping with the architectural structure of the tapestry 'Los Hechos de los Apóstoles' by Rafael. The series dates back to the commission that Raphael received in 1514 by Pope Leo X (1475-1521) to make full-scale cartoons for 10 tapestries that, during the most solemn ceremonies, would dress the lower part of the Sistine Chapel.

The technical mastery of the Brussels upholsterers, in Pieter van Aelst's workshop, transferred Raphael's cartoons to tapestries, between 1516 and 1521. Her Majesty received a guided tour of nine tapestries which are usually housed in the Vatican Museums, from the curator of the exhibition, Concha Herrero.

Beautiful coat and dress, but the coat appears to ride up on the dress making an uneven and unsightly hemline. Looks a little untidy. But still a lovely outfit.

I'm just looking at this again and I do not think the coat is meant to be longer in the back and shorter in the front- it doesn't appear that way on the model. Perhaps it was just a bit of static cling making it appear higher than the skirt...

The CH coat is beautiful. I'm not sure I'm seeing it correctly but the hemline seems to be longer in the back and then gradually shortens towards the front. That makes the coat more special. The pearl buttons add some contrast and I like the way the model is pictured with a matching white purse to brighten it up even further.

Wonderful! Such a classical and beautiful look. I think double-breasted coats are so flattering, especially with this unique collar. I hope we will see this coat worn many more times!

Both this coat and dress are fine, although a tad subdued looking. What I don't care for is the dress showing below the coat. It is one thing to wear a 3/4 length coat, where a fair amount of skirt is showing, but this small amount of dress poking out looks sloppy.

It bothers me that the coat is shorter than the dress. It doesn't look as neat and tidy as it should at the bottom. She looks great besides that one thing.

This dress is another winner that can be pulled out of the closet to make a respectable appearance for events like this. It is also another that has been adjusted for the better. Seen next in Morocco, a neat waistband was added to cinch the waist and emphasize the volume of the skirt. It almost looks like a different dress.
One of the local 'fashion experts' is scandalized that a frock coat is paired with this flared skirt, and that the collar of the dress and a bit of the hem can be seen. It offers a contrast to the unrelieved black of the coat and is a perfect foil for the lady in charge of the exhibition who is standing next to her and wearing the reverse combination.

Beautiful elegant and classic coat. Another beautifully tailored coat, I love the flair from the waist.

A very sober outfit for viewing these stunning tapestries. I like the bodice and unusual neckline on the Herrera coat, but it seems to flare out a bit soon for Letizia's waist and adds bulk to her middle. The shawl dress is very worthy, a dull colour, but interesting styling, though the way Letizia wears the narrow belt with it on earlier pictures looks unappealing to me. There also seems to be some problem with the dress length as it is so close to that of the coat it keeps peeking out, looking untidy rather than cool layered.
