The vintage number consists of a green drop-waist maxi skirt and a delicate pink floral embroidered blouse. Letizia modified the original pink corded belt for today’s diplomatic reception.

She complemented the colour scheme with her TOUS Ruby and Chrysoprase earrings.

This is not the first occasion Queen Letizia has worn a vintage garment from Queen Sofia's wardrobe.   She first sported a dress from Sofia’s wardrobe in January 2018 for King Don Juan Carlos 80th Birthday celebration.

One thing about Valentino fashion is that it is truly romantic. This pink and green number is a work of art. I like the idea that Letizia re-wears Sofia's outfits, because they have been timeless and classic. While I am not a huge fan of pink and bright green together, I still feel this dress is beautiful. The placement of the flowers on the bodice and sleeves is so carefully done. The skirt detail below the waist is unique. The ruby and chrysoprase earrings are an inspired choice to echo the colours of the dress.

Its wonderful that the Queen can support the re wears such as this ensemble. She looks very elegant. The blouse is nice, but I am struggling with the skirt. I have never liked drop waists such as we see in this style or the pleating of the skirt. The green colour looks fabulous. Queen Sofia looked divine in this ensemble, but what I liked was her choice of accessories, diamond and emerald necklace, what looks to be emerald and diamond bracelet (I think) and her gorgeous earrings. In this instance I don't favour the TOUS Ruby and Chrysoprase earrings with this gown. .

Funny how those Tous earrings look almost over-the-top in this context!

I think this may be the first formal outfit that I have seen her in that I don't really like. I like the vibrant green. I loved the dress on Sophia but this particularly in the front view just doesn't suit well. Maybe if her hair were less casual? The dress does look better from other views. It just isn't sitting like I wish it would with me.

I'm always amazed when Letizia wears her mother-in-laws clothes.
I wonder if they have to be altered to fit her slimmer figure. Maybe Sofia was the same size when she was younger. The top of this outfit is so pretty and the workmanship of the embroidery is exquisite. I didn't like the skirt at first, but after taking another look I think it compliments the top perfectly.

I'm afraid these Sofia re-wears are more noteworthy for their novelty than their style. I had to do a double-take when I fist saw Letizia in this gauzy floral top, but of course it made sense when the vintage status was explained.

The colours and work in the embroidered top are very pretty, if the overall style is looking dated now. The top also looks a bit loose on Letizia and seems better suited to the necklace Sofia wears rather than Letizia's bare neck. The intrusive mask is obviously not helping.

But I find myself unable to cope with the skirt and the idiosyncratic sewn-down pleating suddenly blossoming into quite a sharp dirndl shape. It looks ok when Letizia holds her hands across the front as in the photo we have, but I was surprised how awkward it became to my eyes when seen from behind. Back in the day such a style was quite common, so I'm interested to see how my appreciation of fashion silhouettes has clearly moved on. The colouring of the Tous earrings made them a must-wear here

Apologies in advance for my negativity, I hope others enjoy this ensemble. Regardless of how revered the Valentino House is, this set does nothing for the Queen. I don't think any of QSofia's garments have flattered QLetizia thus far. At its best, vintage should appear timeless, and look like it belongs to the 'current' wearer. Sadly, the embroidered blouse is dated and QLetizia looks like she is wearing her mother-in-law’s clothes (I appreciate that this may have been the desired effect). I hope QLetizia continues to borrow pieces from QSofia's archive, but for the strongest results, garments need to be adapted to 'Her'. The blouse is too big, the beige base colour unflattering, and design-wise it's missing embroidery in the front centre bottom. Depending on how much time QLetizia and her stylist plan outfits in advance, I would have updated the look by combining QSofia's skirt with the pink chiffon blouse from the Carolina Herrera Resort 2018 collection (see link). Inspired by CH's styling, I may have also dyed the light pink belt raspberry for contrast (I should note, that it has been mentioned here before that QSofia's clothes are on loan so adjustments may not be allowed). With regard to the styling, deliciously high emerald green satin pointed-toe pumps (without platforms), Her pretty Yanes diamond nautilus earrings and a coiffed updo.
