FASHION FLASHBACK

Letizia typically favours a dark palette for this annual event since she started attending in 2004.  In 2017 she surprised us with a white Teresa Helbig flapper-style dress. Below is a look back at her most recent ensembles since becoming queen consort in 2014.

I adore this dress. I think there is a full length version but I prefer the shorter length. The macrame and fringe give it a contemporary look while still maintaining an elegant style. Hugo Boss has given the " little black dress" a unique and interesting spin. The gorgeous earrings were the perfect accessory. Once again, Letizia was the best dressed woman in the room.

With the exception of one occasion, Letizia selects black for this event. The dress is fine, with the exception of the fringe, which I feel is gimmicky and cheapens the look. I do like the open work macrame look at the top. I've said before that the snakeskin shoes are too business-like for evening wear and I'd prefer a lighter looking shoe. The dress she wore in 2019 was incredible!

I have always loved this dress, so simple and elegant. She looks amazing, love the earrings too.

Having struggled with feathers earlier in the week, I'm more than happy to cope with an extended fringe now, it certainly looked most effective in the video I caught on YouTube. It's a most original and refreshing embellishment which moves naturally with the wearer, and still remains in classic good taste.

I like the form-fitting sheath style from Hugo Boss and appreciate the touch of gold on the Nina Ricci clutch to lighten things up. The Blahnik snakeskin pumps add welcome extra texture. I'm not so sure about copying the fringe effect in the Tous string earrings, a bit close to overkill for my liking, Letizia's hair looks much better behind her ears this time, the effect of her hair loose in a side-part last time was a little too heavy above the black of the dress.

Started to be obsessed with these shoes.
While looking to find when this shoe appeared the first time (June 2019 [1]), I realized that different shoes were 'favorite' at different times, and worn over and over again. So not sure if I should conclude that 'they must just be really comfortable '.

But, for an evening event, a patent or suede pump (of which she has plenty too) might've been nicer (which probably she is aware of...). So maybe they are just very comfortable :D.

This is a modern and edgy look, the Queen looks fabulous, she has the style and flair to wear this so successfully. I could never pull this off, at all!
Personally I prefer the longer version, but this length on the Queen is perfect. It fits well, and looks equally good on movement. The jury is still out for me re: the earrings. Makeup looks impeccable, hair gorgeous, styled this way.
Love the snakeskin shoes and black clutch with the gold thread piece. I like all the previous wears, but 2019 really was sensational, a beautiful creation.
P.S, The pink coat the lady in 1st photo is wearing, is really lovely.
